The Sox routed the Athletics again last night. Oakland must be in bad need of starting pitching, not to mention the bullpen. O’Sullivan for the Red Sox pitched pretty well until the 6th inning when he gave up 4 runs. He is an upgrade from Henry Owens at any rate. The Sox poured it on offensively with 8 runs in the first 3 innings and then continued to score more as the game went on. Shaw, Betts and Ramirez all had homers with Big Poppy having the day off. Shaw went 3 for 4 with a walk and 5 RBI’s. He had a great game. The Sox managed 16 hits overall and won the game 13-5.
So, the team continues their winning ways. I am beginning to believe in them for real as they show no signs of slacking off their relentless climb to the top. Baltimore won again, so there is still a virtual tie for first in the division between us and them. Maybe we are in first to say for a while, perhaps for the rest of the season!
Porcello is on the mound tonight, so we should have a good chance of coming out on top. The A’s are using another left handed pitcher, so it should be interesting. The Sox sure hit left handed pitching last night. We should be able to pull off a sweep against them the way things are going for the A’s right now. They are for certain hurting in the pitching department. Still, anything can happen in baseball so you never know until the final out how the game is going to go overall.
So, let’s just keep doing what we’ve been doing. It’s Kansas City for 4 games in Boston over the weekend. I think we can win or at least split the series with them. We have won 3 in a row and a win tonight will make it 4. Who knows, we may be at the beginning of a long winning streak. The way the team has been running up the score lately, it just could be. So, it has been a good week so far. Let’s just continue it into the weekend.
So far nearly everybody is healthy this season. Other than the minor hit by pitch and the like there hasn’t been any harm to our batting order. We do have a couple of pitchers down, but they should be back soon. Let’s hope the team health can continue. There will be some injuries, of course, but if we don’t get hit by too many at once, we should be in good shape for a great season. Time will tell. We are 20-13 and climbing. Let’s go all the way! Go Sox!
