Braves @ Red Sox Game 2 (4-28-16)

Oh well, another one in the losing column last night. The Sox didn’t do much on offense and Buchholz had another poor outing. He gave up the 5 runs over 6.1 innings and his bad inning was the 2nd this time around when he gave up 3. He is the only one in the rotation that doesn’t seem to have it together on the mound. There were a couple of bright spots as Pedroia continues to hit. He had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI. Ramirez also did well with 3 hits and 2 RBI’s, but that was all the scoring as the Sox were held to 3 runs on 10 hits. The final was 5-3.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
ATL 0 3 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 5 12 2
BOS 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 3 10 0

The team is now 12-10 and 1.5 games behind first place in the division. The Yankees are next for 3 games so it doesn’t get any easier. If they can win 2 of 3 against them, we will be doing fine for now. Henry Owens is on the mound tonight, so let’s hope we get a better performance from him.

I would say that he has potential as he did not pitch too badly in his last outing. If he can get his wildness under control, he might do fine. I am ready for Rodriguez to get off the disabled list, but it looks like it will be weeks before that happens. Let’s hope Owens can hold down the fort until one of them returns.

Well, at least we beat Atlanta 3 of 4 and won the series, but I was hoping for a sweep. Atlanta is starting to play better, so maybe they will be able to improve their record in the near future. Last night’s win was only their 5th of the season, so far. We really should have swept them, but you can’t win them all. Now we need to get the Yankees.

We need to play good ball against them and win a couple of games to get things rolling for the rest of the season. Let’s not hover around .500 winning percentage any more, but let’s get the ball rolling toward a good season. Our last 2 opponents are really no indication of how well we might do, so we need to win against competitive teams to  show we are ready for a good season.

So, let’s win tonight to get the ball rolling. We have played a lot of Al East opponents for the first month of the season and came out even in the  W-L column. We need to start winning against them now to make our move and stay at the top oi the division.

They say the AL East is not too good this year, but let’s prove that the Sox are a quality team ready to dominate the division. I would like to see it, but maybe I am dreaming. They need to win tonight. Go Sox!
